Stamped concrete driveways, also known as pattern imprinted concrete (PIC) are perfect if you want an attractive, cost-effective and low maintenance driveway.
Initially, the existing driveway or area where the new driveway will be laid is dug out to a depth of approximately 8- 10 inches then around 5 inches of road stone is compacted into the area. Shuttering is fitted where needed around the edges then 4 – 6 inches of fibre reinforced concrete is poured in. Following this, the concrete is coloured and pattern imprinted (using pattern mats) to the design of your choice. Patterns and textures include stone, brick, slate, flagstone, tiles and even wood. Stamped concrete driveways are relatively fast to lay. So, if you need a driveway fast, this may be the perfect option for you.
Block Paving Driveways
Block paving driveways offer an attractive appearance and will enhance the exterior of your home. Initially, the driveway area is dug out to approximately 8 -10 inches in depth. Then you have the choice for an optional weed proof membrane to be applied. After this 5 inches of road stone or 20-40mm scalpings are compacted. Following this, we compact 50mm of sand then screed to ensure an even surface. Blocks are then laid (we recommend 60mm blocks as this is standard block depth for vehicle use). We will cut around the edges as necessary for a clean finish. Following this, kiln dried sand is pushed into the joints and then compacted down. We use diamond tipped blade cutters to ensure a clean cut.
